With many years of experience in Microwave Melting, we have developed proven performance materials for crucibles, lids, flow control & insulation. At Prairie Ceramics, our expertise in Materials Science allows us to provide a complete process solution with years of industry use. Our proximity to and collaboration with industry expert Hugo Huey has provided us with a deep understanding of the microwave / ceramic / insulation interface.  

These materials were originally developed at the Department of Energy’s Rocky Flats Plant and refined at Custom Technical Ceramics. Our products have been speced into critical Microwave Melting applications with great success for the users.

Our MFH-57 ceramic body has been formulated for maximum performance in microwave melting and casting processes. This is the only crucible material specifically developed for Microwave Melting. Often, we find our competitors trying to supply ceramics developed for other applications and it shows in the performance of their materials being inferior to our formulations.

In addition, we make Erbia coatings and Yttria coatings for these materials.
